A community-driven, grassroots effort based in Ellicott City, MD - built for families and supported by neighbors.
Carters Community United started in March 2026 in Ellicott City, Maryland - not as a big organization, but as a response to a real need we kept seeing around us. When a family is one missed paycheck away from panic, "figure it out" isn't a plan.
CCU exists to make it easier for neighbors to help neighbors - in a way that protects dignity. We focus on practical essentials, simple coordination, and a welcoming place where people can ask for help without feeling small.
We're still early, still building, and committed to doing this the right way: with honesty, consistency, and a community-first mindset. As we grow, we'll keep our focus on what matters most - helping families stay afloat.

Our mission is simple: help families stay afloat with practical essentials and real support - delivered with dignity. Based in Ellicott City, MD, we focus on essentials like computers, electronics, toys, games, clothing, household items, hygiene products, toiletries, and other essential goods as they become available through community support.
From daily necessities to community-building resources, we offer a comprehensive range of support services.
Devices that help students and families stay connected and keep up with life
Essential electronics and accessories when available
Joy, comfort, and normal moments for kids of all ages
Everyday clothing for all ages, sizes, and seasons
Household essentials that make a home feel stable again
Hygiene products, toiletries, and other essential goods
These core principles guide every decision we make and every family we serve.
Every interaction is rooted in genuine care and empathy. We meet people where they are, without judgment.
Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Our process protects privacy and honors the courage it takes to ask for help.
We believe in the power of neighbors helping neighbors. Strong communities are built one act of kindness at a time.
Every donation is tracked, every dollar is accounted for. We earn trust through openness and honest communication.
We measure our success by the lives we touch. Every program, event, and initiative is designed to create real, lasting change.
We build programs that last. By reusing donated items and reducing waste, we help both families and the environment.
